Organization and Administration Reflection

As a first year principal, I envision having difficulty in motivating teachers to follow a novice leader, implementing new programs, and promoting curriculum strategies teachers may not be accustomed to. I would follow the ELLC standards and monitor how they are implemented. Every decision I make will be based on the standards and carrying out effective leadership.

Administrators should first be knowledgeable of resources and programs that will be beneficial to their students. They should budget properly to obtain materials and work with businesses in the community who will support improving their schools access to new programs.

Administrators should then hire staff members who are knowledgeable in this area and willing to learn more. Staff members should participate in well organized professional development sessions that teach them about new software and educational tools and also teach them how to help their students gain access to the digital world. School administrators have to be leaders in the effort to align local curriculum with the common core and district standards.

An administrative team should be formed to help execute the alignment and help teachers to incorporate this in their classrooms. Outlining the success other schools have had while implementing new strategies would also help motivate them. Teachers want to see that new ideas are creating results for them and their students, otherwise they will continue to use what works and not expand beyond their comfort zones.

As a school leader, I would motivate teachers by demonstrating the benefits of giving students access to multiple forms of learning in order to promote academic success.

This course has prepared me to use twenty-first century leadership skills by outlining the importance of professionalism and effective leadership.

It is imperative to collaborate with all stakeholders and utilize the expertise of members of your team in order to develop positive school culture and give students the best opportunities for success.

Data collection is important for assessing student performance and analyzing what steps teachers need to take to improve student learning. School leaders should continue to help staff members develop professionally in all areas especially instructional practices to ensure that students are able to academically compete on a global scale.

Administrators should always be mindful of the standards they must follow. They must assess the school climate in order to gain positive feedback necessary for improvements.

As a school administrator, I plan to organize a well-balanced leadership and educational team, and serve as a trustworthy and knowledgeable leader who is willing to go beyond what's expected to carry out my school's vision.
